The boost weapon can be used to speed into and power through enemies. Your ship’s primary weapons are it’s lasers. To kill the aliens, you have multiple weapons available for use in your arsenal. Besides saving the humans, you have to kill the aliens. I really wish there would have been a brief tutorial available, but I figured it out thanks to the digital manual. You must then scoop them up and deliver them to the portals. There are humans in cages that you can free by killing the keepers. I thought that by killing the aliens, the humans would escape, but that’s not how it goes. I wasn’t really liking the game at first because I didn’t know how to save the humans or that I was supposed to. Saving the humans is a pretty important part of the game to know how to do. As I mentioned earlier, the goal of RESOGUN is to kill aliens and save humans. It is especially cool, because you can see what’s going on, if there is no obstruction, on the other side of the level. This was one of my favorite parts of the game, because I have never played a game with that sort of level design. ![]() I personally chose the Ferox, because it is the balanced one of the lot.Įach level is designed in a circle, which you can navigate by sidescrolling through two dimensions. These are rated for their performance in agility, boost, and overdrive. There are three ship classes available: Nemesis, Ferox, and Phobos. The last option before starting the game is for you to choose a ship. There are four levels of difficulty and I choose the play as a Rookie, the easiest setting. Once you pick your game mode, then it’s time to select a difficulty level. The Single Level Mode is just like it sounds: playing a single level from the game. There are five levels in the game and Arcade is a journey through those levels. Arcade is like a single player campaign, though it doesn’t call itself that. Within those modes, you can choose between Arcade and Single Level. There are two main modes of play: single player and online co-op. RESOGUN is a PS4 exlclusive “shoot ’em up” game. Moving on to the heart of RESOGUN, the gameplay. This is a gameplay-driven game and most or all of you aren’t going to even notice that there isn’t a story here. Maybe a small introduction cutscene and/or cutscenes between levels? At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. This isn’t the type of game that requires characters or much of a plot, but I would have liked to see a little more from them in the story department. That’s the summary of the plot and there are no characters, unless you count your ship. It is up to the player to hold off the alien forces and save the last humans from extinction. Apparently, there aren’t many humans left. In RESOGUN, the narrative is really, really simple. ![]() That’s when I hopped the fence and I’m glad that I did. I was on the fence on whether I would give it a try, until I heard that it would be free to play for PS Plus members. RESOGUN is a game that I wasn’t particularly interested in at first.
